For a number of years Longwick Sports Club has faced increasing difficulty in raising sides for both football and cricket. At a meeting in September 2016 the committee agreed to call an Extraordinary General Meeting to discuss a motion to formally close the club.
On the 24th October 2016 the motion was carried at the EGM and the club formally closed with the assets being passed to 4 trustees appointed at the meeting.
The trustees will now consider the next steps taking into account opinions expressed by the members at the meeting. The aim being to divest the club of physical assets and responsibilities and to decide where best the fund can be used.
